Serial number 129666 on bottom of receiver, 26 inch blued barrel marked MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CT., U.S.A / 12 GA. with single front bead sight, barrel choked F, slide-action, upper tang marked MARLIN MODEL NO. 17, walnut stock and ribbed forend with original buttplate marked MARLIN.

Produced from 1904 to 1915, this model featured a unique hammerless slide-action mechanism, designed for ease of use and reliability in the field. The Model 17 was innovative for its time, incorporating a sliding fore-end that allowed for quick cycling of the action, which contributed to its popularity among hunters.
Overall good estate condition, barrel and receiver have minor amounts of oxidation and surface scratches, bore has hazy shine, stock and forend are two different stains, forend has stable 2.25 in. crack on left side.
