When Marvin Midgett was stationed at Kill Devil Hills Life Saving Station, he worked with friends a fellow carvers Manie Haywood, Willie Lewark, and Avery Tillet to make some of the most important canvas decoys ever made. Midgett's canvas decoys had two piece heads while Manie and Avery made one piece heads.
