Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century, Ink and color on paper, portraits of a husband and wife depicted dressed in their fur lined winter court robes, the husband wears a dark blue robe with a civil rank badge bearing peaches and bats, the wife also wears a rank badge over the center of her vivid red robe, both have green plum blossom pattern blankets over their chairs and marble foot rests, great detail is paid to their faces, ornate jewelry and accessories, hands on both are hidden under robes, presented with a white brocade border framed under glass in matching gilt faux bamboo frames.

From the collection of Thomas English Cody (1889-1948), the great nephew of Buffalo Bill Cody, and by family descent. Very good condition; some very light creases; some areas of discoloration to left and right of lady and light areas scattered above and to right of gentleman; not examined outside of the frame.
