Two Chinese Pottery Tomb Figures of Seated Ladies

Tang dynasty (618-907), earthenware with some remnants of red and black pigments together with white slip, both ladies are presented seated and wearing flowing robes, one holds a tray and one holds a wine jar, they come together with wooden square stands.


6 3/4 x 3 x 3 1/2 in., 6 1/4 x 5 x 4 1/2 in.

From the collection of Thomas English Cody (1889-1948), the great nephew of Buffalo Bill Cody, and by family descent.

Good overall condition, wear appropriate for age; some nicks and chips to edges of base; some loss and possible restoration to tray held by one figure and the side of the neck of the other figure.
