Alfred was born in Stacy on the "Ridge" in the western portion of the loop road. As a youngster his hair was very white and he received the nickname, "Cotton-eye". He began carving in the 1930s and kept a hunting camp on the Core Banks. His finest decoys are black ducks made from an eight by eight cypress floor sill. The plumage style on this decoy is known as "pineappling". This is his finest effort.

Original paint with very light gunning wear.
