Circa 1990, William and Katherine Bernstein, including a bowl with dancing figures (6 in.); a spiral twist champagne flute (8 in.); a multi color face cup with cobalt and red decorated foot (4.5 in.); a cranberry colored pitcher with applied double line decoration (7 in.); a pink swirl pitcher with green lip (6.75 in.); and a face paperweight (3.25 in. diameter), all signed.
From the Estate of the late Elizabeth "Betsy" Buford and Dr. Donald Mathews, Raleigh, North Carolina The Bernstein family is renowned for their accomplishments in glass and distinctive styles; their work can be seen in the permanent collections of several museums from the Hokkaido Museum of Art in Hokkaido, Japan, to the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. William Bernstein has also taught the art of glass making from Penland to Pilchuck. Their son, Alex, has mastered glass sculpting and has won several prestigious awards for his accomplishments as well.
