17th century, of faceted cylindrical form with spreading foot and everted rim, profusely decorated with zig-zag patterns and bands featuring meandering stylized floral and palmette arabesques on a hatched ground, the neck divided into three registers, the central register inscribed in continuous nasta'liq calligraphy, mounted atop a later ebonized wood base.
Brass approximately 12 x 6 3/4 x 6 3/4 in.; with base 13 1/4 x 8 x 8 in.
Some areas of rubbing and nicks to brass; light verdigris to crevices; the foot rim is trimmed; later wood base is screwed to brass foot; wood with seam to one end and drilled to underside.
