Former collection of John Freeman Taylor, son-in-law of Ida Hamilton.
Hamilton grew up in Sea Level, North Carolina, but enlisted in the Coast Guard at the age of nineteen and was initially assigned to the Caffey's Inlet station. There, he spent time with Manie Haywood and the Tillets, learning the art of making canvas-over-wire decoys.
