Private Collection South Georgia Jimmy Styron was born and raised on Harkers Island where he became a commercial fisherman, market hunter, and clammer. During his early years he lived in Diamond City out on Shackleford Banks as he was employed as a harpooner in the whaling business there. He market hunted until it was outlawed but continued hunting shorebirds as he was fond of eating them. This curlew is very important Southern folk art.
