A Pond Yacht is a model yacht with a buoyant hull and a weighted keel for balanced free sailing on open water. Traditionally crafted by artisans using timber or planks, these yachts mimicked full-sized cutters and trawlers with intricate gaff sail rigs. As the Victorian era ended, sleeker hull designs and Bermuda rigs gained popularity, making the sport accessible to all classes with organized races and municipal yacht ponds. Post-World War I, mass production of Pond Yachts flourished until battery-operated toys led to their decline. However, interest has revived, with local and national clubs organizing events that celebrate the heritage of historical sailing enthusiasts.
Overall good estate condition, aged paint with separation and scuffing, main mast has aged working repair near the top, sails have multiple missing grommets and small tears, rigging lines are not included.
