Two Coin Silver Spoons, Wright Family History

Includes a demitasse spoon, mark of William H. Ewan, Charleston, South Carolina, circa 1849-1859 (3 3/4 in.); and a tablespoon in the Fiddle & Thread pattern, with mark of Gale, Wood & Hughes (8 5/8 in.); each with script "FWN" monograms for Francis Newland Wright to the handles.

Francis Newland Wright was a descendant of Joshua Grainger Wright. The Wright's were a prominent family of Wilmington, North Carolina. Joshua Grainger Wright purchased the historic Burgwin-Wright House in 1799. Joshua served as a member of the North Carolina General Assembly from 1792 to 1809 and later became a judge on the North Carolina Supreme Court until his death in 1811.
