The first, a portrait Smokey Joe Williams in his uniform for the Lincoln Giants, silver gelatin print, 1921, inscribed; the second, depicting an African American and white child shaking hands, a silver gelatin print, 1908, inscribed "North Carolina"; presented in uniform framing below glass.

Frame dimensions 15 5/8 x 13 3/4 in.

Joseph "Cyclone Joe" or "Smokey Joe" Williams was a Native American and African American pitcher whose 27-year career in the major leagues was barred by segregation. He played for the Sant Antonio Black Broncos, The Chicago Giants, the Lincoln Giants; and other teams in the Negro Leagues, Mexico, and Caribbean.

Some clouding to the gelatin and toning to the photographs, not examined outside the frame.
