Introduced in 1899 it became famous for its innovative lever-action design and rotary magazine. The .300 Savage and .410 gauge take-down versions, introduced later, provided versatility for hunters with the ability to easily break down the rifle for transport. The .300 Savage was known for its power and accuracy, while the .410 gauge option allowed for small game hunting. The Model 99's combination of rugged design and reliable performance made it a favorite among American hunters.
