Length 17 in.

Early in life, Dowdy frequently hunted waterfowl alongside his neighbor and friend, Sylvannus Harris. He briefly worked in the lumber industry but primarily earned his livelihood through fishing and hunting. In his 30s, he obtained a captain's license for vessels between 25 and 65 feet in length. A skilled boatman, Dowdy owned both fishing and hunting boats, showcasing his expertise on the water.
