Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century or earlier, watercolor on paper, each composition is very skillfully painted with great detail to the faces of the figures and fine decoration of their respective settings, the first painting features a noble gentlemen, one is seated on a chair lined with a full tiger skin, he wears a robe with large frontal dragon, a jade embellished belt, behind him is a pierced screen with stone inlaid, the other painting has a gentleman dressed in a fur lined robe with
chilong dragons and a vivid blue hat arriving at a house finely appointed with a table inlaid with marble to the top and showcasing an archaic bronze ding and a lovely green vase with spring of coral, an ink landscape painting hangs behind the table, both paintings are framed in identical manner under glass with wood grain mats in gilt wood frames.

From the Collection of Thomas English Cody (1889-1948), the great nephew of Buffalo Bill Cody, and by family descent Some light scattered foxing; tears or creases to upper left corner of each; probable area of repair and restoration to right side of painting under column ; light stain to upper right hand corner of one; not examined outside of the frame.
