Meiji period (1868-1912) or Taisho period (1912-1926), a large cloisonne jar with cover, each side decorated with a large reserve of yellow ground, one featuring a group of black birds amongst purple blooming wisteria plants, the other side with a pair of red crest cranes amidst large chrysanthemum blooms, elegantly shaped handles flank the body and are decorated with floral blossoms, below the handles are large finely detailed flying dragons, the cover with a finial, the underside is light yellow enamel.

Private Collection, New York and London One arm is slightly loose; restoration to finial on cover; repair to both arms on upper sides where they meet the vessel; some minor light scratches in dark area over foot rim; a few small losses to enamel pattern above foot rim.
