A Chinese Carved Water Buffalo with Figures and Stand

20th century, a carved wooden sculpture of two smiling figures atop a water buffalo, the buffalo with inset glass eyes, includes a custom wooden stand with decorative branches and flowers.

Measurements with base 12 x 13 1/2 x 7 in.

Figure is missing flute; buffalo has break and repair to left hind leg, cracks to right front and hind legs, scuffs to front right hoof and underside; base has minor scuffs consistent with age, pedestals in base do not conform exactly to the shape of hooves.
