Collection of John A. Ulinski, Jr., foreign service officer in Jakarta in the 1950s, and by descent Ida Bagus Made Nadera was a distinguished Balinese painter renowned for his intricate, dreamlike compositions that blend everyday life with spiritual and mystical themes. Born in Tegallinggah, Gianyar, Bali, he was a prominent member of the Pita Maha artist collective, founded in 1936 by Walter Spies and Rudolf Bonnet to preserve and promote Balinese art. Nadera's work is characterized by densely layered scenes featuring lush landscapes, ritual performances, and symbolic motifs, reflecting his deep engagement with Balinese culture and spirituality.
