Ink, colors, and metallics on paper, hanging scroll, features two elegant women meeting at a garden gate, bears Tsunemasa red artist seal to lower left corner, ivory or bone rollers.

There is little known about the artist Kawamata Tsunemasa, with a small number of paintings known by him. His elegant style of painting features delicate female figures, elongated in form and serene in presentation. He was a member of the Kawamata school of ukiyo-e painting during the Edo period in Japan.


Overall even toning to paper; some horizontal creasing; some scattered spots of discoloration; ink spots and stain to upper area of paper; mounting has wear with break to upper left along hanger; missing one roller.
