England, first quarter of 19th century, mahogany veneer with four inlaid shell motifs and satin wood line inlay borders, broken arch pediment with central urn finial, arched alcohol thermometer display behind glass with silver dial, above main circular 8 in. engraved silvered dial signed "Prestinari & Vanini/Sheffield/Warranted", rear hinged cistern compartment containing mercury tubing, stamped "ENGLAND" to cistern door.

Chipped and separated veneer to top and bottom; scuffing to architectural top; cracks to veneer around inlays; some veneer patches and shrinkage cracks; glass tubes in good condition; later screw to main dial bezel. Please note that due to the presence of mercury, this item cannot be shipped.
