Overall excellent estate condition, professionally restored with great skill, barrel bluing remains strong, rare pit present, bores are shiny, barrels ring with church bell tone, early roll check barrel lug, engraving is very clean with dog present on each lock plate, color casing is excellent, pair of quail engraved on trigger guard, nicely figured straight grip stock with excellent checkering, reproduction dog head inlay in forend.
LC Smith factory records indicate that this gun is actually a Pigeon Grade gun. The engraving is clearly a Grade 4. In this case, factory records would appear to indicate a change of direction for this early Grade 4, that perhaps was originally going to be finished as a Pigeon Grade.
