An Impressive Japanese Bronze Floor Urn

Meiji period (1868-1912), bronze with a rich reddish brown patination, cast in three parts, the top with a wide rim decorated in low relief with a thick band populated with dragons flying amidst swirling clouds, the neck below is flanked by cloud handles and decorated with a bird of prey in high relief descending upon a goose in flight, below is a bulbous shaped section featuring peacocks to one side and a large phoenix to the other, double phoenix head handles flank this central section, the lower base has bands of diaper pattern ground with raised flora and foo lions, the floor base is encircled by a dragon flying above swirling waves.

Overall very good estate condition; some small nicks to edges; a repair to rim of middle section; some surface losses and verdigris to lower section; dust to surface.
