Two Continental Music Boxes, Late 19th - Mid-20th Century

Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Both instruments share similarities such as attractive marquetry floral decoration, ratchet-wound brass movements and a full compliment of 93 teeth. One with serial number 24995 on the bed plate; the other with serial number 9382 on the ratchet handle. The number of tunes on each cylinder is unknown given the lack of tune lists for the machines.

Each player is approximately 6-1/4 x 23-3/4 x 8-1/4 in.

From the Collection of the late John Firenze, Long Island, New York

Player 14855 has two prominent areas of marquetry and its case shows plenty of evidence pointing to age and use; Player 9382 as a repaired horizontal split running the entire length of its lid. Its case might be a later creation.
