Yoko Ono's Avant-Garde Album Fly

Lot Details & Additional Photographs
12-inch acetate recording featuring sides 1 and 2 from Yoko Ono's second album, Fly; Bell Sound Studios, 33-1/3 RPM; marked in ink "Master Ref." and dated "9/3/71" on both sides of the label; with additional ink marks and notations in various colors, including some that show thoughts on changes to the tracklist on side 2; in paper sleeve.

Fly was a double album that was released on September 21, 1971. Yoko Ono described the songs on sides 1 and 2 as "Songs to dance to – Rock and songs with physical beat." This category includes the singles "Mrs. Lennon," as well as "Mind Train," a nearly 17-minute song.

This early version of the album is interesting, in part because it shows some alternative song titles such as "Flush" which later became "Toilet Piece/Unknown."

Album with age and handling wear including scuffs, fingerprints, and a couple of small nicks; mild staining and marks to the label; not tested; the paper sleeve with some tears, small losses, and soiling, and with a piece of tape to the interior; lacking cover; lot does not include sides 3 and 4 of the double album.
