The 'Blossom' pattern, designed in 1905, was the first tea and coffee set designed by Georg Jensen. It exemplifies his signature Art Nouveau style, blending natural forms into a unified, organic design. Low and rounded in shape, the set features whimsical toad feet and a magnolia blossom finial—motifs drawn from flora and fauna yet reimagined with playful elegance. Inspired by Japanese symbolism, the magnolia bud represents May, while the toad is a traditional emblem of good fortune.
Distinct for its nature-derived form rather than mere ornamentation, the set is among the most representative of Jensen’s early work. Characteristic hammer marks across the surface diffuse light with a soft, moonlit shimmer, a hallmark of Jensen’s craftsmanship. Decorations are thoughtfully placed at the top and base, emphasizing both structure and artistry.
Light scratching to well of tray; one pin on kettle stand is broken; minor shallow dent to cover of teapot; some denting to inner collar of cover to sugar bowl, with some nicking to edge of sugar bowl; minimal light scratches to each piece, handles with original hairline cracks to handles and some staining, as to be expected.
