Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji period (1868-1912), 19th century, a porcelain jar of globular form, hand painted in underglaze blue with a dragon in low relief flying amongst swirling clouds, an incised key fret border around the rim, drilled and fitted as a lamp with lovely carved wooden cover and mount, dual socket fixture, includes Stiffel silk lampshade surmounted with a green carved hardstone finial with longevity symbol.

Working at time of evaluation; nicks to rim of jar; small areas of cracking, separation, and loss to carved wood base; small light staining to shade; consistent chipping to wooden mount; overall looseness to lamp fitting; jar not examined outside of lamp mounts.
