Meiji period (1868-1912), a wide mouth urn quietly decorated with a serene narrative of a goddess and a boat man in a river landscape, the urn body is flanked with playful foo lion handles, the urn is held up by three of the same style foo lions over a circular base, the cover has concentric layers of lotus blossom petals and is surmounted by the another playful foo lion with legs up into the air, unmarked.

Totten, Butner, North Carolina Firing hairlines to underside of urn; scattered scuffs and losses to foo lions, rim, and lid; scattered firing cracks to whole; break and repair to one leg and loss to another of one lion handle; consistent gilt rubbing; small nicks to underside of lid.
