A Pair of Large Pink and Gilt Satsuma Vases with Butterflies by Kinkozan

Meiji period (1868-1912), late 19th century, earthenware with light pink ombre ground and very finely hand painted with large peony blossoms and butterflies, bands of brocade patterns encircle the rim, shouler, and foot rim of both vases, signed to underside 大日本京都錦光山製 (dai Nippon Kyoto Kinkozan zo) "Made in Great Japan by Kinokozan in Kyoto", a stunning pair.
