Meiji period (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926), a lavishly decorated satsuma vase with lion mask head faux handles rings flanking the shoulder, the entire vase is decorated in lush colors with heavy gilt accents, drilled and fitted as a light with brass mounts and single lightbulb fitting, comes together with a lampshade.

HOA 37 in., Vase 19 in.

Working at time of evaluation; a few firing cracks and minor losses to foo lion handles; small area of surface residue to body; some rubbing with loss of gilt to body; small abrasion to foot; drilled for lamp fitting; vase not examined outside of the mounts.
