Churches Island, North Carolina, circa 1920s carved and painted wood, published on page 182 of Gunnin' Birds by Kroghie Andresen.

Length 10 in.

E.M. Sears made these small folksy decoys for shooting ducks in small marsh potholes behind his house. He and his infamous Chesapeake Retrievers were legendary in Currituck County. His surviving decoys are few and considered very rare in the decoy community.

Original paint worn to bare wood in places, tight age check in the back.
