Churches Island, North Carolina, circa 1930s, carved and painted wood.
Length 16 in.
Beasley was the son of well known carver, Solomon Beasley. He took over as the caretaker of the Monkey Island Club in 1909. He carved at least one stand of birds under the mentorship of Rufus Roberts. His work is a style different than that of Roberts' and is highly collectible.
