Meiji period (1868-1912), 19th century, very finely painted vases, each with half length portraits of different samurais within a gilt border reserve to one side, and on the reverse a still life style arrangement of samurai attributes and attire, vases are further decorated with brocade patterns against a very fine crackle ground, unmarked.

Each 7 1/2 x 5 1/2 in.
