Edo period (1615-1868), a
kakesuzuri (portable document chest) or a
funadansu (ship's chest), crafted of
keyaki (cedar) wood, the metal hardware is hand forged iron with a protective blacken burnt lacquer, with four drawers to one side, embellished to exterior with the family crest (mon) for the famous Japanese family of Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
