Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 18th century or older, a pair of iron stirrups used in China when riding horses, simple shape and decoration with an auspicious wan symbol to foot hold of each.
Each 5 1/2 x 4 5/8 x 2 1/4 in.
From a Prominent Collector, Aiken, South Carolina The "Wan" pattern shown on these stirrups is an ancient and auspicious traditional Chinese motif that signifies continuous prosperity and boundless longevity. Originating from the Neolithic era and evolving over time, it has become a symbol of Buddhist religion and general good fortune.
Consistent rust to both; otherwise good estate condition.
