Sea Level, North Carolina, circa 1910s, carved and painted wood, published on page 68 of Shorebird Decoys of North Carolina by Kroghie Andresen and Philip Harvey.

Length 12.25 in.

From the Personal Collection of Mr. Kroghie Andresen Charlotte, North Carolina

Former collection of Roy Willis.

This is one of the full bodies root head curlews that Roy Willis bought out of the Harry Hamilton stand. It has a stunning appearance with the rounded breast and slightly flat top of the body. The root head construction with the long bill gives this decoy a very folksy look. This is a very significant southern shorebird decoy.

Original paint with light gunning wear.
