Dated 1979, woodblock print, a large abstract print, pencil signed to lower margin with title in English and Japanese, edition number 50-33, artist's signature together with date, presented under glass with a mat in black frame.

Collection of Michael and Ingrid Kelly, Worldwide Gallery Antiques, Fredericksburg, Virginia From the personal collection of antique gallery owners Michael and Ingrid Kelly who owned Worldwide Gallery Antiques, dealing with antiques for over sixty-five years, retiring to Fredericksburg, Virginia, where they filled their own residence with Asian and Belle Epoch fine arts and antiques.

Born in Tokyo in 1911, Tajima studied art at Nihon University and the Tokyo School of Arts, specializing in Western-style painting. He also received training in fabric dyeing and woodblock printing, the latter under the influence of sosaku hanga artist Nagase Yoshiro.

In 1946, Tajima joined Bijutsu Bunka Kyokai, an organization promoting abstract and surrealist art. His art was influenced by movements like Dada and Surrealism, as well as East Asian calligraphy, traditional Japanese painting, and Zen Buddhist beliefs. Tajima becaem known for his abstract compositions with saturated colors. His work has been exhibited globally, including the Tokyo Biennale in 1964, and is featured in collections like The British Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Very good condition and color; two small creases to paper at center top; not examined outside of the frame.
