Lot Details & Additional Photographs

circa 1900, by Mermod Frères in Sainte Croix, Switzerland, the double comb instrument with brass bedplate, serial number 6080, having slow/fast moderator adjustment, presented within a mahogany case signed "Mira" to the upper lid. Included are (18) vintage discs and (1) modern disc.

13.25 x 27.5 x 21 in.

From the Collection of Wade Woodleif, Henderson, North Carolina

The 15 1/2-inch Mira music box is well-known to collectors for its rich, distinctive sound and resonant tone that sets the highest standard for music boxes of the early 20th century.

Cosmetically, there is an old area of wood loss below the crank and some minor interior losses where screws are present; winding mechanism not currently operating; a pristine modern disc with "Silent Night" accompanies eighteen playable vintage discs, each having scattered oxidation.
