Late 19th or early 20th century, each woven basket consisting of two tiers with a cover, a carrying handle wraps around each basket secured to the sides of the lowest box, one has a handle that is carved with bats and Buddhist treasure motifs and features decorative metal embellished hardware, this same basket has an inscription to the top.

Property of a Chapel Hill Gentleman Crack along underside of lid, some scattered scuffs to weave on handle and lid a wood throughout, and small areas of verdigris to brass mounts of taller chest; the shorter with minor signs of wear and age.
