Switzerland, late 19th century, concealed within the seat is a Swiss cylinder single comb music box activating when sat upon, retaining period paper labels including a printed scene after Johan Ludwig (Louis) Bleuler (Swiss, 1792-1850) depicting the Laufen Castle by the Rhine Falls, the seat and back decorated with inlaid and painted Alpine stag pictorial scene cartouches surrounded by inlaid floral borders, ornate pierced seat back carved with C-scrolls issuing oak leaf and acorn motifs, raised on carved cabriole legs.
