An American Brilliant Period Cut Glass Carafe with Sterling Silver Gilt Mounts by Gorham

1893 date symbol, pattern number S1039, the glass body is intricately hand-cut with strawberry, sunburst, diamond and fan designs, the silver mounts include a hinged cover surmounted by the head of an eagle with upswept wings, the collar features winged masks of Victory amidst laurel swags, the handle wrapped by a trailing vine trailed by a hops bud, and the lower band with beaded and foliate design; period monogram "HSM" to small medallion beneath pouring spout.
