Dated Showa 6 (1931), but later printing circa 1945, woodblock print, figures with umbrellas go about their day in a village with a bridge and boat in foreground, signed Hasui with red artist seal Kawase to lower left corner, a round 6 mm Watanabe Shozaburo seal at lower right, title and date in right margin, presented under glass with double mats in gilt faux bamboo frame.

Hasui Kawase was one of the leaders of the Shin Hanga movement in Japan. He focused on making prints that illustrated the beauty of Japan's natural landscapes with special emphasis on seasonal color and light effects of sunrise, sunset, rain and snow. He received the high honor of being named "A Living National Treasure" in 1956 for his contributions to the arts.

Good condition; some light fading to color; not examined outside of the frame.
