Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Hand-colored lithograph heightened with gum arabic, 1838, from John Gould's
A monograph of the Trogonidae, or Family of the Trogons, published London, framed.
Frame dimensions 45 1/4 x 21 in.
Offered here is the rare and striking fold-out plate of the
Resplendent Trogon, showcasing the bird’s full, elaborate plumage. Because the image was prone to damage, the second edition replaced it with a plate depicting the tail feathers curling around a page.
A beautiful, vibrant print; toning, scattered creases and some sheet waviness, several foxing marks, and pinhole; not examined out of frame.
