Philadelphia, circa 1825-1846, featuring palmette decoration to the foot, baluster, and shoulder, hand-chased foliate repousse to the body and handle, with a central cartouche engraved "Presented to Samuel Tucker M.D. / By/ the united managers of the Roman Catholic Asylums of Philadelphia, as a sincere but inadequate testimonial of the grateful sense they entertain of the valuable & disinterested professional services he has for years rendered gratuitous to the orphan children / under their care / March 1837".
