Meiji period (1868-1912), tabletop cabinet set on lacquer base, lacquer with gilt and colors, with inset satsuma panels to doors, drawer, and top, left door panel signed Kinkozan zo and decorated with chrysanthemums, peonies, and plum blossoms, interior of doors with red crested cranes flying amidst swirling clouds all in relief, entire cabinet surface with textured lacquer having either wan or diaper patterns as well millefleur, shaped metal hardware with moths or butterflies and peonies, a brilliant example of Meiji period craftsmanship.

Hole to top and to upper and lower back; some losses to edges; some losses and stable cracks to lacquer panels inside front doors and along back edges of cabinet; missing a fasten to metal work below top left drawer; missing key; possible old repairs; some scattered rubbing with loss to gilt; expected general wear overall.
