Late-20th-century production by Cassina, ebonized oak, tall pierced and ladder back, pink velvet upholstered slip seat, rounded tapered legs and stretcher base, marked.

Mackintosh designed this chair for Mr. Blackie's Hill House (the most iconic of Mackintosh's designs) of the great publishing house Blackie & Son (London). Mr. Blackie was one of Charles's greatest admirers, as he did design work for some of his books.
