Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Denmark, ca. 1930s, patinated bronze, an ovoid form with incised rings and polished band at the neck; stamped "DENMARK," "JUST" [in triangle], and "B2056" to underside.

7 1/2 in. tall

Just Andersen was a silversmith and sculptor who was best known for making jewelry along with everyday forms for the home, including candleholders, bookends, vases, and bowls. Although born in Greenland, he moved to Denmark when he was a child and later studied at the School of Danish Crafts and the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen. Andersen worked in a variety of metals during his career, and even invented his own alloy called "Disko" that was named after Disko Bay on Greenland's western coast.

Scattered scratches and nicks, some rubbing at the neck, and verdigris to interior; felt pad residue to underside; overall good estate condition.
