Antique Asian Bamboo Fireman's Hat with Red Lacquer Hat Box

19th century, possibly Chinese, a bamboo and straw conical form hat (8 x 9 3/4 in) and a red lacquer conical form box with brass mounts (12 3/4 x 15 1/2 in.).

Minor loss to top of hat, bamboo with overall wear and soot residue; box with cracking to lacquer, some looseness and verdigris spotting to hinge, a few small areas of lacquer chipping, some spotting and paint flecks to exterior, warping to interior, clasp does not fully secure.
