Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Meiji period (1868-1912), an incredibly complex and impressive embroidery of a dragon flying through swirling clouds, silk and metallic wrapped thread, employing a variety of stitching techniques that give the embroidery a three-dimensional appearance, appears unsigned but clearly the work of a textile master from the Meiji period in Japan.

Frame dimensions 19 1/2 x 19 in.

From the Estate of the late Susan C. Frankenberg, Hillsborough, North Carolina

Overall very good estate condition; some minor loss threads and light loss to some underlying silk to outer wings; not examined outside of the frame.
