Meiji period (1868-1912), six carved hardwood panels inset with lacquer and painted panels populated with birds and flowers in high relief inlay of mother of pearl and bone, reverse side lacquered in red and painted with trees and hills, top and sides of each panel with ornate carving to frame.

Each panel 68 x 24 x 1 3/8 in.

Presented as separate panels, not hinged together; one panel with repair to crest, some cracking to the lacquer and loss to inlay on branch; second panel with some cracking to the lacquer and loss to inlay on upper portion; third panel with some cracking to the lacquer and loss to inlay on wisteria and leaves; fourth panel with repair to crest, some cracking to the lacquer and repair with repainting to left side; fifth panel with some cracking to the lacquer and repair with repainting at corners; sixth panel with some cracking to lacquer.
