Joseon dynasty (1392–1910), 19th century, top hinge cover door that opens upwards, extensively reinforced with hand forged iron hardware, including heavy corner braces, edge mounts, and a large circular central lock plate, raised on two iron legs that run beneath the chest and elevate it above the ground, interior lined in paper, likely originally created for money or coin storage.

19 1/4 x 28 3/4 x 18 in.

Shrinkage crack to top; some nicks and scratches to top surface; older wood to bottom with shadows of where previous iron metalwork once was; plug holes to left side where a handle may have originally been.
